Indiana student now facing drug charges

It is not uncommon for law enforcement agents to conduct ongoing investigations for months at a time if they suspect drug-related activity in the area. Drug charges may result after such investigations, after which any person accused may request guidance from a criminal lawyer. Experienced legal counsel is often a key factor in avoiding incarceration and minimizing the negative impact a drug accusation can have on a person's future.

A university student who reportedly resided in a quad at Indiana University was recent charged with several felony counts connected with an apparent drug bust. Authorities say that officers were able to purchase various controlled substances from the student over an extended period of time. Drugs supposedly sold to agents included Adderall, Xanax and LSD.

The Indiana student in question is reportedly a sophomore at the university. Facing drug charges during one's residency on a college campus can severely impede one's academic success. This is why it is advisable to act only under experienced legal guidance when proceeding to court.

The penalties for drug charges in Indiana may be quite severe if convicted. However, there are many things a criminal defense attorney can do to build a strong defense and fight against the alleged evidence of the prosecution. A first step to take in the process is typically to contact a criminal lawyer in the area and request a consultation. This allows a defendant time to discuss the situation in confidence and seek help in determining all options that might be available toward a positive outcome.
