6 individuals facing drug charges in Indiana

An investigation in Indiana that is said to have lasted two months recently resulted in criminal charges being filed against six people. The drug charges are allegedly connected with activity that authorities claim took place at an apartment complex. The investigation was supposedly prompted by an apartment manager's phone call to police.

Apparently, an undercover police officer actually moved into the apartment building with the intent of developing relationships with the six people now accused of drug activities. That officer now says he participated in drug deals with the defendants. One of the men accused allegedly told the undercover officer that he was able to provide him with any type of drug he wanted.

The officer claims that the apartment smelled like marijuana. All six people will now face multiple felony charges in court. Charges against them include maintaining a nuisance and conspiracy to deal narcotics.

Felony drug charges potentially carry very severe penalties in Indiana if convictions are handed down. There are often various steps that can be taken to challenge portions of pending charges, search and seizure procedures or the process under which an arrest was made. An experienced criminal lawyer understands the laws and regulations that govern such matters and is typically able to offer guidance that may increase one's chances of obtaining a positive outcome in court. A first logical step to take would be to discuss one's situation with an attorney so that an investigation can be launched and evidence gathered that may prove beneficial toward building a strong defense
