Man accused of drunk driving re Indiana crash

An accident occurred on a recent Wednesday in Indiana. It was approximately 6:30 p.m. when the incident, involving two vehicles, took place at an intersection. State police have reported that drunk driving is the suspected cause of the collision.

A sports utility vehicle was heading north, driven by a 44-year-old woman, when the crash occurred. A pickup truck, traveling in a westbound direction and operated by a 37-year-old man, apparently struck the SUV in the area of the front passenger door. Upon impact, both vehicles reportedly careened off the road and into a nearby field.

The SUV rolled over and landed on its own top in the field. The pickup truck, which came to rest on its side, ignited in flames moments later. The driver of the pickup successfully extricated himself from the vehicle and was flown to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The woman who had been driving the SUV was transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Sadly, a 10-year-old child who was a passenger in her vehicle did not survive the accident. Indiana police say that an investigation remains ongoing in the suspected drunk driving case. In similar circumstances, when drunk driving is a suspected cause of an accident, an injured person may file a legal claim in a civil court; an immediate family member may act on behalf of a deceased victim.  He or she would be able to request a consultation with an experienced personal injury lawyer for guidance and assistance in pursuing claims for financial damages occasioned by the negligence of another party.
