Criminal defense might be needed by former professor

A former Indiana State University professor was involved in a recent incident that resulted in charges being brought against him. The former instructor might now find himself in need of a criminal defense after the events that took place while he was apparently staying at a hotel. Terra Haute police were called in to assist hotel staff as they attempted to handle the matter.

Apparently, the man had been staying in the hotel. The staff alleges that he failed to pay his bill. A representative from the hotel also stated that the staff asked the man to vacate the premises. Instead of leaving upon request, they claim that the former teacher remained in his room. The staff members called the police after allegedly being harassed by the man.

According to reports, when officers arrived at the scene, the man barricaded himself in the hotel room and still refused to exit. He also is said to have slung insults at the officers. The police reportedly had to cut a lock on the door to the room  in order to gain entrance, and, upon doing so took the man into custody and charged him with criminal trespassing.

It is likely that someone charged with trespassing or another crime in Indiana would want to seek legal assistance in order to determine what options might be available. Such events can have serious effects on one's future personal and business experiences. Therefore, it could prove helpful to place oneself under the guidance of an experienced criminal defense lawyer so as to ensure that one's rights are protected and that every effort is made to achieve the most positive outcome possible in the case.
