Charges dropped against former Miss Indiana after December arrest

A person getting arrested in Indiana will often make headlines, while the news coverage is not always as vigilant when that person is acquitted, or prosecutors drop the charges. Nevertheless, justice is served when the prosecution acknowledges is lacks the evidence to pursue charges against an individual, or that police made procedural errors that violated the suspect’s rights.

Nearly five months after a former Miss Indiana was arrested in Bloomington on several charges, it was revealed that all charges against her have been dropped. Police arrested the woman, 22, in December after they received a call that sent them to an apartment building early in the morning. The caller said that the suspect had been knocking on the door and asking to be let in for half an hour.

Police said at the time that they found the suspect outside the door. They described her as slurring her speech and having an “abusive attitude,” according to a December report from WXIN-TV. She was wearing shorts, a long-sleeve shirt and socks, and told the officers that she was looking for her boyfriend.

When she tried to leave, police arrested her. They charged her with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

It is not clear what happened in the case after that until May 1, when WISH-TV reported that court documents revealed that the charges had been dropped.

The latest story does not provide any details about the dismissal, such as whether the suspect agreed to a plea deal, or if prosecutors dropped the case outright.
